Welcome to the combined Seaway/Capital-ARES Districts for Eastern Ontario

The Seaway/Capital-ARES District is part of the Ontario-ARES Section which is under the Radio Amateurs of Canada (RAC) field service.

The ARES District first began in August 2004 and by February 2005 the first ARES District meeting took place in Ottawa. This yearly conference meeting is where the leadership teams of all the ARES groups in Eastern Ontario meet to learn more of each others activities, of similarities and differences for the past year, of recent and ongoing projects, successes and lessons learned through public service and or emergency operation exercise. As of 2006 the ARES District began to develop and continually evolve each year the ARES District Mutual Aid Program (DMAP). The Mutual Aid Program meetings are for sharing information and to come to certain common understandings and agreements to facilitate a better working mutual aid program for the ARES or Emcomm groups in Eastern Ontario. The more similar the groups are, the more compatible they would be, which would facilitate members from one ARES group to more easily parachute into another group’s emergency communications operations, when a call for help occurs.

This year we are going to have our first DMAP deployed exercise for Eastern Ontario on April 17th 2010. This is a good follow up to last year’s first table top exercise. We believe that the DMAP document and new forms are ready to be tested with the exercise. We plan on having the current version of the DMAP documents and process to be ratified by the ARES group leadership teams soon after the ‘Emcomm Radio Relief’ exercise debrief.

In this NEW website (under construction and soon to be developed) you will find current DMAP documents and archives of past meeting containing the yearly DEC presentations and those of each ARES group for each year.

This new website is updated frequently so do check often.
